Farmer training courses on “Soil, plant and water Analysis: The Basis of Good date palm Fertilization”

As part of the activities within the three innovation platforms (IPs) and on request of the IP members, the team of the National School of Agriculture of Meknes organized two training courses in April 2018 for farmers and IP members of the Tafilalet region. The trainings were organized in collaboration with our project partners (Fimadattes, ORMVAT, ONSSA, ANDZOA, CRA Drâa-Tafilalet and ONCA) and two private laboratories specialized in soil, plant and water analysis (Labomag and LACQ).

The topic of the two courses was "Soil, plant and water Analysis: The Basis of Good date palm Fertilization". The trainings, organized in Erfoud and in Tinjdad, were an opportunity for farmers to learn the importance of soil, plant and water analysis, the interpretation of the results, how to prepare a good date palm fertilization programme, understand the nutritional requirements of the date palm and to choose adequate fertilizers according to their formulation and method of application. The first training took place on the 29th of March in Erfoud with a total of 70 participants including of members of IP Erfoud and IP Jorf and farmers of the region Erfoud and Jorf. The second training on the 16th of April was attended by 60 participants consisting of members of IP Tinjdad and farmers from the region Tinjdad and Goulmima.
