Cadi Ayyad University (CAU), Morocco

The Cadi Ayyad University (CAU) with its Faculty of Sciences Semlalia has extensive experience in the study of the effects of compost, AMF and PGPR on the improvement of mine-ral nutrition, tolerance of abiotic stress and bio-protection. The date palm is a crop that has a great importance in their research program aiming at studying the diversity of rhizosphere microorganisms and to select for the most effective strains adapted to Moroccan conditions. CAU is experienced in micro-propagation technologies and has constantly built capacity and knowledge through research missions in Europe and North America. The International Centre for Agricultural Research and Development (CIRAD), France, supported projects on micropropagation of date palms, and the Institute of Research for Development (IRD), France, funded various projects on AMF used in high value crops such as olive, argan, and date palm in Morocco. Most studies are conducted in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research Institute (Marrakech, Rabat, Errachidia), the Centre for Forestry Research (Rabat), the Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (Rabat, Agadir), the Scientific Institute (Rabat), and the National School of Agriculture (ENA, Meknes).
